Paul J. Shevlin
MSFS, CLU®, ChFC®
A long-time supporter and benefactor of the American College, Paul J. Shevlin, MSFS, CLU®, ChFC®, earned his first designation, CLU®, from the college in 1971, the MSFS degree in 1980, and the ChFC® designation in 1982. He has since contributed to the MDRT Foundation Hall Refurbishment Fund and the George Joseph Chair. He is also former secretary of the Board of Trustees.
Paul was a licensed agent in Pennsylvania for over forty years. After serving as vice-president of the Vogel-Leader Agency and as an agent and brokerage manager for Washington National Life, Paul joined National Life of Vermont in 1976. As general agent of their Philadelphia agency, Paul led the company to many prestigious honors, including the Welman award for excellence in agency operations in 1980. Paul is a thirteen-time recipient of GAMA’s National Management Award and a six-time recipient of the Master Agency Award.
Paul has served as past president of the Philadelphia Association of Life Underwriters and the Estate Planning Council, the National General Agents and Managers Conference, and National Life’s General Agents Association Executive Committee. In 1982, he received the President’s Cup from the PALU for outstanding contributions to the life insurance industry. He is also a past board chairman of the Agency Management Training Council and board member of LUTC.
Paul and his wife Peggie have seven children. Three of their sons are agents.
