New Study Explores the Financial Needs and Attitudes of Women of Color

New study explores the financial needs and attitudes of women of colorThe State Farm Center for Women and Financial Services at The American College recently released a groundbreaking report titled The Financial Needs & Attitudes of Women of Color

Critical findings. The study showed that the pressure to pay off debt, as well as the struggle to meet the immediate needs of themselves and their families, are key challenges preventing many women of color from saving and building cash reserves.

These challenges—along with inadequate insurance protection—significantly jeopardize the financial well-being of most women, regardless of ethnicity.

Other key findings include:

  • Across racial and ethnic backgrounds, most women do not feel financially secure.
  • A large majority of women worry about running out of money in retirement.
  • Women of color are more likely to think they can’t afford a financial advisor, but all women believe that working with one could help.
